About This Audio Conference:
On November 17, 2008 the U.S. Department of Labor issued new regulations interpreting the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. These new regulations, to take effect on January 16, 2009, not only change the way employers must administer FMLA in the workplace, but also give critical guidance on interpreting the FMLA military leave amendments that were enacted in January of this year. Employers will need to understand these changes as soon as possible to assure compliance in the new year.
In this 90-minute interactive audio conference, attendees will learn how the new regulations will affect how employers must administer FMLA and what policy changes employers can make to help the FMLA administration process run more smoothly.
Questions To Be Answered:
- How do the final regulations modify problematic employer and employee notice requirements contained in the current regulations?
- How do the final regulations modify the medical certification process that dictate how employers can ensure FMLA leave is legitimate?
- How do the final regulations address employers' concerns regarding the interplay of FMLA leave and perfect attendance awards?
- How do the final regulations address the interplay of the FMLA's mandate to allow employees to substitute paid leave when taking FMLA leave and an employer's ability to enforce the terms and conditions of their paid leave policies?
- What new requirements apply to the FMLA's military leave provisions?
The program includes a 30-minute Q&A session following each session. Listen in and get the chance to ask your specific questions!
