On January 29, 2009, the Federal Reserve Board published comprehensive revisions to Regulation Z. These changes will impact all issuers of credit cards.

And that’s just the beginning! Congress and the Federal Reserve Board are continuing to fine tune the Truth-In-Lending Act, Regulation Z, Regulation M, and the Official Staff commentary in an effort to balance the concerns of consumers with those of the lending community. You must know what to do to comply—and you must keep up-to-date with the ongoing regulatory changes.

For the information and guidance you need to navigate in this shifting regulatory environment, look no further than the newly-revised Truth-in-Lending Manual—your comprehensive, practical guide to Truth-In-Lending, Regulation Z, and Regulation M compliance. This two-volume reference offers clear analysis of the law, practical guidance for complying with regulations, and assistance in drafting forms and developing procedures that comply with truth-in-lending requirements.

The Manual brings you thorough coverage of the massive number of changes affecting credit cards and other open credit, including:

  • New format requirements for credit and charge card promotional forms, including a requirement that creditors disclose the duration that penalty rates may remain in effect.
  • New rules for cost disclosures at account opening.
  • Revisions that require itemizing interest charges for different types of transactions on monthly statements.
  • Expanded circumstances under which consumers must receive a written notice of changes in the terms applicable to an account.
  • New provisions that tighten the rules for what you must disclose in your advertising.
  • Additional provisions that affect how you handle mailed payments and advances that are separately underwritten.

In addition, your Truth-in-Lending Manual gives you:

  • A useful cross-reference chart that maps out all the compliance requirements of Truth-In-Lending Act and Regulation Z for easy reference
  • Solid and easy-to-understand discussions of the entire body of Truth-In-Lending Act
  • More than 100 sample forms and disclosures—chosen from working files of leading banks nationwide
  • The full text of Regulation Z and Regulation M with related procedures and policies
  • The Official staff commentary
