Pratt’s Rebuilding the Mortgage Lending Market: Changes in Legislation, Regulation & Policy manual will help you plan for new regulations – the result of the 2007 mortgage meltdown. Most of the American public blames the lending process, and its inadequate regulation. As a result, legislators and regulators have begun, and will continue for the foreseeable future, to propose and adopt new requirements to shore up the process and everyone in the industry will be affected.
From current laws to long-range planning this is your one source for keeping on top of all the laws and regulations
This comprehensive manual incorporates in one place all the laws, regulations, and long range planning you need to know about in this new mortgage lending environment. It provides a solid foundation for understanding the laws, regulations and agency issuances that will be affected and includes:
- Detailed explanations of existing laws, regulations and agency issuances, including but not limited to the Truth-in-Lending Act; the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act; real estate lending guidelines; and subprime, predatory lending and nontraditional mortgage lending issuances
- Charts listing State predatory lending statutes and regulations and an appendix that explains each law
- A chart listing State mortgage broker laws
- A digest of court decisions dealing with alleged mortgage lending process failures
- The Federal Reserve Board’s December 2007 proposal to amend Regulation Z
- The proposal by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to amend its Regulation X (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act)
- The Home Valuation Code of Conduct, soon to be implemented by the Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA, or Fannie Mae) and Federal Home Loan Mortgage Association (FHLMC, or Freddie Mac)
- And much more!
This is the one resource that mortgage lenders can’t afford to be without in the current lending environment!
It includes helpful features such as:
- Long-range planning checklists showing actions you can expect you will be required to implement during the next several years
- Sections highlighting the challenges likely to be addressed by new regulation
- Sections explaining existing laws, regulations and agency issuances
- Sections highlighting pending proposal
- Sections discussing likely regulatory action and the steps you will need to take to implement the proposed regulation
